Many BJJ fighters reach the mount and start acting intuitively, without in fact knowing the mechanics this position entails, let alone the logic of weight distribution and the multiple options of grips and adjustments. They don’t know the functions their hips must exert to keep their opponents under control. These fighters just attack, and because they start out from an advantageous position, they often succeed. But when they are on top of a technical, experienced fighter, they easily lose the position and have their attacks foiled. You can’t let that be you. This week, Renzo Gracie Online Academy (RGOA) wants to make your jiu-jitsu much more efficient when you’re on top, in the ultimate dominant position. Renzo Gracie and Paulo Guillobel show several tips to revolutionize your mount, from both a perspective of stabilization/control (you will stop giving your opponent ways to escape) and from one of attack. Enjoy.
