The Brazilian Team Championship will be held this Saturday, September 10, at the Municipal Club in Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro.
The first Brazilian Team Championship was carried out in 1996 and this tournament has a different format than usual. They are disputes by teams formed by up to seven athletes, five athletes composing the team and 2 reserves. The team that wins 3 times first will run to another stage. With this format makes this tournament one of the most exciting in the CBJJ and IBJJF calendar.
How the tournament works? Teams can be formed by at least 3 athletes, but in this situation, the team only can move from another stage if they win three fights(3-0).
In the case of clash of teams composed of only four athletes, there is a draw for 2-2 teams must escalate an athlete to fight the fifth fight. In the case of team of just four athletes: the team will have to win 3 fights to pass the next stage. In clashes in a team with four players against a team with five athletes in case of 2x2 of a tie, the team with five athletes is declared the winner.
The categories are separated by Lightweight (up 75,9Kg) and Heavyweight (above 76,0Kg) and this is the only event CBJJ and IBJJF where brown belts can fight with black belts.
The result for the Academies in the league will have a general title and the points are counted as follows:
1 placed - 9 points
2nd placed - 3 points
3rd place - 1 point
